Full Job Description Position Summary:
We are seeking a talented, experienced, detail-oriented Quality Control Manager to lead our inspection and metrology functions by performing high-quality inspections of dimensions and materials. This qualified person would serve as our "QC authority" by working with advanced metrology tools (CMM's, Optical Comparators, Hardness Tester, etc.) and ensure all our products meet and/or exceed customer demands and specifications. Candidate to start in July or August.
OPTIONAL
Should this candidate be able to take ownership ("QMS Manager") of our current
ISO 9001
2015 QMS and help Vo-Tech achieve and run an AS9100 Certification, including writing procedures, completing documents, hosting audits, and ensuring shop employees follow all guidelines, an hourly raise would be negotiated.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct all inspections (incoming, in-process, and final) of all materials, machined components, and assemblies.
  • Maintain and/or improve the FAI (First Article Inspection) procedure.
  • "Own" the Calibration systems, including Gage R&R (Repeatability & Reproducibility) Analysis, scheduling of inspection & maintenance, and external QC vendor management.
  • Operate all inspection equipment, including CMM's, Height Gauge, Optical Comparator, Hardness Tester, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, pin gauges, gauge blocks, etc.
  • Read and Interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, and GD&T, and provide guidance to appropriate personnel.
  • Document all inspection results, using proper inspection forms, quality reports, and digital logs.
  • Identify, record, and report all non-conformances to appropriate personnel; assist in corrective actions and write strategies for improvement.
  • Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and proper handling of all measurement instruments.
  • Follow all Quality Procedures, Safety Requirements and
ISO 9001
Standards
  • Train & develop other inspection personnel, including ongoing development of an existing 2nd shift quality inspector.
  • Serve as our customers' QC "point-of-contact"
  • Teamwork with those in our engineering, programming, and machining departments on fixture design, process validations, and DFM/DFI feedback.
OPTIONAL
Key Responsibilities, IF adding the role of QMS Manager (see above):
  • "Own" the day-to-day administration and improvement of Vo-Tech's QMS program (whether
ISO 9001
2015 or
ISO 9001
2026 or AS9100).
  • Handle all Documentations, trainings, updates, and annual audits. Train others as necessary.
  • Handle all Corrective Actions, Non-Conformances, and Customer Returns as necessary.
  • Plan and execute the path to AS9100 Certification, including registrar selection, documentation build-out, training of personnel, supplier qualifying, and counterfit parts prevention.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in Quality Management or as Senior Quality personnel, in a Precision-Manufacturing Environment.
  • 5+ years' experience with programming and operating a CMM (Mitutoyo is preferred, but Zeiss, Hexagon, or B&S is accepted).
  • Strong knowledge of metrology tools and dimensional inspection tools
  • Strong knowledge in GD&T interpretation (per
ASME Y14.5
).
  • Strong understanding of
ISO 9001 QMS
  • Experience with MS Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Good Communication Skills; verbal and written
  • Exceptional attention to detail / ability to document with 100% accuracy
  • Outstanding leadership skills
  • Highly organized and effective time management skills
  • Willing to adapt to current job flow process, learn current processes methods
  • Be able to contribute to positive and efficient changes

OPTIONAL QMS
Manager Role:
-Strong understanding and ownership or experience with AS9100 -Direct experience with leading and/or participating in obtaining an AS9100 certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Quality Control, or related field
  • Working knowledge of FAI / AS9102, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, and other control plans
  • Experience with Hardness Testing Processes (Rockwell, Brinell, or Vickers)
  • Metrology or Quality Assurance training
  • Experience with any ERP System
