Job Description

at SunCoke Technology & Development LLC in Granite City, Illinois, United States Job Description Description Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration of daily inbound coal deliveries to assure the quality of coal blend delivered to plant provides optimal coke quality, coordinating efforts with other resources as required. Monitors coal and coke scales for accuracy, reporting issues to appropriate resources to implement corrective actions in a timely manner. Utilizes statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes; adjusting processes accordingly to optimize coke quality. Maintains regular communication with supplier/vendors regarding quality of coal and/or components working to address any issues or discrepancies. Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures. Completes and maintains various reports in support of operations or to meet customer needs. Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities. Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to leadership. Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members, contractors, vendors, or others as required. Maintains compliance with appropriate federal, State and local safety and/or environmental regulations, reports and notifies appropriate plant personnel of any deviations per established standards. Participate in incident investigations as required, including reporting incidents to appropriate personnel, completing required documentation, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and communicating findings as appropriate. Trains and coaches team members in efficient work procedures, safe work practices, and good housekeeping practices. Coaches and encourages development and growth of skills and abilities. Monitors, reviews and analyzes reports and data to identify trends, root cause analysis (RCA), or non-compliance; recommending and implementing corrective actions accordingly. Works effectively with Team Members at all levels of the organization within areas of responsibility, consulting with HR, Department Manager, or other parties as necessary Interfaces with customer concerning Coke quality, sample collection, Coke processing, and any additional areas of customer concern including reporting. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Engineering, Science, or a related field from four-year college or university; 8-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint). Knowledge of Sharepoint preferred.
