Job Description
Director of Quality (Automotive Tier-1) | Detroit Area | Multi-Site A growing, medium-sized Tier-1 automotive supplier is hiring a Director of Quality to lead enterprise quality strategy and performance across 15+ manufacturing sites (including some international locations). This is a high-visibility leadership role with strong upside and an outstanding benefits package. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Position Overview This role drives quality system effectiveness, plant execution, and performance improvement across a multi-plant footprint. You will lead through influence with matrix plant quality leaders , standardize best practices, strengthen problem-solving discipline, and improve the total cost of quality .
Travel:
Approximately 30% , primarily in the Midwestern US. Key Responsibilities Lead and continuously improve the quality management system across multiple plants Standardize core quality processes and expectations across the organization Drive measurable improvements in internal and external quality performance Strengthen problem-solving capability and coaching at the plant level Partner with operations and leadership to reduce total cost of quality Support APQP/launch readiness, PPAP execution, and ongoing customer performance Build plant capability through training, auditing, and disciplined control plans Required Qualifications Tier-1 automotive supplier background (required) Experience in automotive metal stamping (required) Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or similar) Demonstrated success implementing or improving a quality system across multiple sites Strong working knowledge of:IATF 16949, ISO 14001, APQP, PPAP, DMAIC
, control plans, and structured problem-solving tools Quality certifications & Six Sigma certification strongly preferred Strong financial acumen and ability to link quality to business results Proven change management capability and steady progression (not a job-hopper) Preferred Experience Exposure to other metal working processes in an automotive environment Has supported an international manufacturing locationSimilar jobs in Detroit, MI
