Job Description

The Quality Assurance Manager ensures customer and regulatory requirements are effectively planned, implemented, and maintained throughout purchasing, inspection, manufacturing, and product launch activities. The Quality Assurance Manager partners closely with Operations, Engineering, and Customer Support to identify quality concerns, investigate root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions that improve product quality, operational performance, and manufacturing efficiency. This position also drives continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, trend monitoring, and the effective application of quality and problem-solving methodologies. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Manager serves as the department's AS9100 Management Representative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development Lead and support Quality team Provide coaching, guidance, and performance management to direct reports. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and quality excellence. Quality Systems & Compliance Apply industry standards and customer specifications (IPC, J-STD, AS9100, ISO, MIL-STD, etc.) to ensure contractual requirements are effectively communicated and implemented across departments. Support and maintain the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring compliance with AS and ISO standards. Serve as the department representative for AS9100 compliance and audit activities. Process Validation & Manufacturing Quality Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities and validate manufacturing processes through quality assurance controls. Develop and maintain process control methods, including
PFMEA/FMEA
activities. Ensure calibration systems and inspection equipment are maintained and compliant with requirements. Continuous Improvement & Data Analysis Monitor key quality and manufacturing metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Utilize statistical analysis and quality tools to monitor critical processes, identify risks, and implement corrective actions. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive operational and quality improvements using structured problem-solving methodologies. Problem Solving & Corrective Action Lead root cause investigations and implement effective, sustainable corrective actions. Support and participate in the Corrective Action Request (CAR) process. Verify effectiveness of corrective actions through ongoing monitoring and performance analysis. Customer & Supplier Support Interface directly with customers and suppliers regarding audits, source inspections, corrective actions, and quality-related concerns. Support customer and regulatory audit activities as needed. Training & Additional Responsibilities Ensure employees receive required quality-related training and that training materials remain current with contractual and industry requirements. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred; equivalent quality experience considered. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience. Quality certification preferred (CQE or equivalent). Experience in Lean Manufacturing environments. Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and quality methodologies, including FMEA/PFMEA, Fishbone, 5 Why, 8D, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, and A3 problem solving. Strong understanding of quality systems, tools, and best practices. Excellent analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
