Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for managing, implementing, and facilitating Quality Assurance, ISO, and Continuous Improvement programs within the plant. This role oversees inspection, testing, nonconformance processes, third‑party audits, and the Quality Management System while partnering with manufacturing, engineering, and leadership teams to drive quality excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage inspection and testing activities and related personnel. Oversee the plant-wide calibration program for hand tools and instrumentation. Manage the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with TL 9000 and
ISO 9001.
Lead periodic third‑party inspections from UL, CSA, and Intertek. Ensure proper identification, segregation, and disposition of nonconforming materials. Lead quality improvement activities using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies. Partner with manufacturing to develop quality plans for new products and proactively identify potential process issues. Participate in internal, supplier, customer, and third‑party audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the QMS. Contribute to quality documentation including specifications, drawings, control plans, procedures, and work instructions. Interface with employees and customers at all levels to resolve quality concerns. Provide daily direction, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports; partner with HR on development and growth. Support Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency. Maintain compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements. Perform other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned.
Education & Experience:
BS degree in Quality Assurance, Chemical/Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Strong technical understanding of wire and cable manufacturing processes, inspections, and tests. Knowledge of
UL, CSA, IEEE, ICEA
standards preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Hands‑on wire and cable industry experience preferred. Ability to perform basic arithmetic, statistics, and other mathematical applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QA Management Systems. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively. Ability to lead, coach, and mentor staff. Understanding of customer requirements, specifications, and quality standards. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Strong multitasking abilities and effective troubleshooting techniques. Self-starter with the ability to work independently. Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a noisy manufacturing environment. Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE. Ability to stand for long periods while operating machinery. Ability to work in high‑temperature environments. Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
