Quality Control Manager Custom Pressure Vessel Manufacturing Lead Quality. Drive Compliance. Shape Operational Excellence. Our client is a highly respected manufacturer of custom-engineered pressure vessels serving critical industrial markets across North America. As their business continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead quality initiatives across a complex fabrication environment and ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and product integrity. What You'll Be Doing:
Lead Quality Programs & Compliance Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality control procedures, standards, and inspection programs. Ensure compliance with ASME, API, AWS, National Board, and customer-specific quality requirements. Maintain all quality manuals, documentation systems, procedures, and records to ensure audit readiness. Oversee Project Quality Execution Develop and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans, and project documentation packages. Partner closely with Engineering, Production, and Customer Representatives to ensure all project requirements are met. Coordinate inspections with customer representatives, third-party inspectors, and Authorized Inspectors (AI). Manage Inspection & Fabrication Quality Verify incoming materials, fabrication processes, and final assemblies against engineering drawings and specifications. Perform and oversee visual weld inspections, liquid penetrant testing, and quality verification activities. Maintain weld maps, material traceability records, travelers, and manufacturing documentation. Drive Audit Success & Certification Programs Lead Authorized Inspector (AI) audits and National Board reviews. Administer welder qualification testing and maintain certification records. Support internal and external quality audits with a focus on achieving zero non-conformances. Champion Continuous Improvement Investigate quality issues using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve operational performance. Identify trends, reduce defects, and strengthen quality processes throughout the manufacturing operation. Develop Teams & Build Quality Culture Mentor fabrication, welding, and quality personnel on best practices and quality standards. Promote a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Serve as a trusted technical resource for quality-related challenges across the business.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. Strong working knowledge of ASME Section I, VIII, and IX codes. Experience leading quality programs within pressure vessel, heat exchanger, structural steel, heavy fabrication, or related manufacturing environments. Proven experience coordinating customer inspections, Authorized Inspectors, and regulatory audits. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, fabrication packages, and NDT reports. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications API, NACE, or additional industry certifications. Experience with National Board requirements and code vessel manufacturing. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of progressive quality leadership experience in heavy industrial manufacturing will also be considered. Why This Opportunity?
