Job Description
FlexSol Packaging Corp. is a manufacturer of specialty plastic films and bags. It operates as a proud subsidiary and production division under Sigma Plastics Group , which is the largest privately-owned film extrusion organization in North America. We are currently looking for a QA Manager/SQF Practitioner. A Quality Assurance (QA) SQF Practitioner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing a facility's Safe Quality Food (SQF) management system. This role ensures food safety compliance, leads internal and external audits, and mitigates risks through strict adherence to HACCP, GMP, and regulatory standards.
SQF Key Responsibilities SQF System Management:
Oversee and implement SQF Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, ensuring full compliance with the SQF Code.Audit Preparation:
Lead and coordinate preparation for internal, customer, and third-party certification audits, while serving as the primary point of contact.HACCP & Risk Mitigation:
Develop and verify Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans, identifying potential chemical, physical, and biological hazards.Compliance & Monitoring:
Ensure facility-wide compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Conduct routine floor inspections, allergen controls, and sanitation verifications.Corrective Actions:
Investigate deviations, lead root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).Reporting & Training:
Update senior management on the SQF program's status and train facility employees on food safety protocols and measurement techniquesQA Manager Responsibilities:
SUMMARY Plans, implements, coordinates, and directs quality assurance program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through a staff of four subordinate QA technicians.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
- Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
- Creates and implements systems designed to improve the quality of products and processes; creates measurements to judge the effectiveness of those systems.
- Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures.
- Interprets quality assurance philosophy to key personnel in organization.
- Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
- Provides inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
- Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
- Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products.
- Leads the efforts of quality management teams within the organization, i.e., leads the plant quality steering committee.
- Leads periodic quality training / retraining efforts for the production and quality assurance departments.
- Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
- Manages calibration of measuring instruments in both the lab and the plant work areas.
- Manage all return goods.
- Does inventory of non-conforming items.
- All lab testing.
