Job Description
Description Quality Control Manager responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of company Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure compliance with
ISO 9001
2015 and AS9100 standards and aerospace and defense industry customer-specific requirements and drawings. Ensure all products meet stringent quality, regulatory, and contract requirements through inspection, documentation control, supplier quality management, and audit readiness. Position is with a precision machine shop building for complex parts for the aerospace / defense industry. Maintain Quality Manual, procedures, work instructions, and controlled documents. Develop inspection plans and sampling strategies based on customer requirements. Oversee all First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102, In-Process, and final inspection. Ensure proper use and calibration of inspection equipment (CMM, micrometers, gauges, etc). Establish and maintain nonconformance control processes. Lead root cause analysis using structured methods (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone). Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Evaluate, approve, and monitor suppliers and subcontractors through audits, performance reviews, and corrective actions (SCARs). Ensure traceability and certification compliance for all incoming materials and services. Serve as primary contact for external audits (registrars, customers, regulatory bodies). Supervise quality inspectors and technicians and provide training on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and compliance requirements. Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred. At least 5 years of quality management in the aerospace / defense industry. Experience with precision machining. Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 implementation and AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements. Knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, machining processes (CNC milling, turning, etc.), inspection tools, CMM operation, SPC, root cause analysis, and statistical methods. ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM) preferred. AS9100 Lead Auditor certification. Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
