PRIMARY PURPOSE
This position has overall responsibility for the quality and food safety of all food manufactured or distributed by the company. The role serves as the primary liaison with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies (including FDA and USDA), as well as third-party and certification auditors. This role provides leadership and direction to the Quality Assurance and Sanitation departments, collaborating closely with Production and Maintenance to identify and resolve issues while driving continuous improvement of the company's Food Safety and Quality Systems. This position is also responsible for maintaining SQF certification and ensuring compliance with additional certifications and customer-specific requirements as applicable.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Manage, direct, coordinate, schedule, and evaluate the Quality Assurance and Sanitation teams; implement coaching and mentoring as appropriate. Manage departmental budgets and spending. Serve as a leader and mentor by promoting employee growth, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within QA-managed departments. Manage and ensure adherence to plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of SQF and Food Safety Programs within the manufacturing facility. Ensure all systems, programs, and procedures are verified and validated as appropriate. Create, update, and maintain SOPs, procedural documentation, and work instructions. Execute product recalls and mock recalls to ensure readiness and regulatory compliance. Investigate customer complaints promptly, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Monitor complaint trends to prevent recurrence. Oversee the scheduling, coordination, and facilitation of third-party audits and regulatory inspections to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. Manage the Environmental Monitoring Program and ensure data integrity and compliance. Oversee the plant Pest Control Program and ensure compliance with all program requirements. Lead the development, review, and approval of product labels to ensure compliance with federal, state, customer, and regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain process specifications and product specifications. Communicate effectively with department supervisors and employees at all levels of the organization. Develop and implement training programs for Quality Assurance and Production employees to ensure understanding of food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Promote food safety awareness across all departments and foster a strong, proactive food safety culture throughout the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, Allergen Control Programs, GMPs, and the SQF Code. Familiarity with applicable FDA, USDA, and Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) regulations. Strong ability to influence and collaborate at the management level, both internally and externally. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams. Highly organized with strong multitasking skills; able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and achieve objectives. Excellent verbal communication and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require (minimum 40 hours per week).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field, with 5-10 years of experience in the perishable, ready-to-eat food industry. Proficiency in computer applications and related software programs. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. HACCP certification required. PCQI certification required. SQF Practitioner certification preferred.

$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
