Job Description:
We are a rapidly growing food manufacturer located in Northern NJ seeking an experienced Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager to lead and strengthen the company's food safety, quality, and compliance programs. This individual will play a critical leadership role in ensuring all products meet the highest standards for food safety, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and customer expectations within a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will oversee all food safety and quality assurance activities across the facility, including raw material inspections, production quality monitoring, inventory controls, hazard analysis and preventive food safety programs, good manufacturing practice compliance, internal audits, corrective actions, and customer and regulatory audit readiness. This position will partner closely with operations and senior leadership to continuously improve food safety systems, drive process enhancements, and maintain compliance with all applicable food safety standards and certifications. Key responsibilities include managing daily production quality checks, overseeing investigations related to non-conforming products, maintaining the company's food safety and quality management system, leading employee food safety and manufacturing practice training initiatives, coordinating mock recalls and audit activities, managing supplier compliance documentation, reviewing environmental and laboratory testing results, and responding to customer complaints through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. The role will also oversee the training, development, and day-to-day leadership of the Quality Assurance team while supporting cross-functional operational initiatives as needed. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, along with the ability to thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment with multiple competing priorities. Experience within the produce or food manufacturing industry is highly preferred, as is knowledge of good manufacturing practices, preventive food safety controls, hazard analysis and critical control point programs, and internal audit processes. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are a plus. Candidates should also have strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to effectively collaborate with plant personnel, customers, auditors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
