Job Description:
Our client, an apparel company, is looking for a Head of Safety and Compliance to join their team in NYC! Responsibilities Lead and manage all product safety and compliance initiatives across kids' apparel and related categories. Oversee product safety testing programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, licensor, and retailer requirements (including CPSIA and related standards). Manage and develop internal product safety testing teams, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight. Own factory compliance programs, including audits, corrective action plans, and ongoing monitoring of manufacturing partners. Serve as the primary point of contact for licensors and retail partners on all safety and compliance matters. Ensure adherence to licensor-specific safety protocols and retailer compliance manuals. Partner cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Production, Sourcing, and Quality teams to ensure safety and compliance are integrated from concept through production. Track, document, and maintain all testing reports, certifications, and compliance records. Stay current on evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices, proactively implementing updates as needed. Identify risks and drive continuous improvement in safety, testing, and compliance processes. Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of experience in product safety and compliance withinkids' apparel . Proven experience managing product safety testing programs and factory compliance initiatives. Strong working knowledge of
CPSIA, ASTM
standards, and other applicable children's product regulations. Experience working directly with licensors and major retailers, managing compliance requirements and expectations. Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and mentoring teams. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders. Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
