Hiring Opportunity:
Cleveland Ohio Our client is hiring for a quality manager for their facility in Cleveland. Our client is a leader in manufacturing, selling, and reconditioning steel drums and other packaging. The quality manager would be responsible for leading initiatives that strengthen operational performance, enhancing product and service quality, and driving organizational efficiency. Qualified candidates would have experience with quality management, ISO 9001, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, inventory management, and a background within manufacturing.
Job Requirements Job responsibilities:
  • Maintains the ISO quality program to current standard.
  • Performs Quarterly Business Reviews and Management Reviews as required.
  • Manages reports related to quality and LEAN enterprise
  • Manages calibration program as required by quality program.
  • Prepares for and represents NCC during quality audits.
  • Approves document changes to ensure consistency with quality program.
  • Reviews quality concerns and works with related departments to determine solutions.
  • Determines status of non-conforming product (accept, rework, re-grade, or reject).
  • Verifies new raw materials (i.e. paints, linings, rings, gaskets) to meet quality and customer requirements.
  • Investigates customer complaints and issue follow-ups as required by the quality program.
  • Visits customers to provide technical assistance and investigate product problems in the field.
  • Investigates accidents as needed.
  • Assists in training of production TMs as needed.
  • Works as a member of the facility management team
  • Maintains a safe environment (OSHA, EPA and 3rd Party Insurance Complaint) for all Team Members.
  • Works with NCC Corporate ERS to ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations
  • Daily, hands-on involvement on the shop floor, including frequent quality and safety inspections and audits of operational procedures.
  • Maintains raw material inventory levels, with specific activities around ordering, receiving and coordination of week and month end cycle counts.
  • Provides local support as required to corporate transportation and logistics.
  • Updates and maintains document control for standard work and total performance management.
  • Oversees response to near miss accidents on-the-job injuries.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement events in order to solve quality issues.
  • Coordinates trainings (e.g. forklift, DOT awareness, safety trainings) and production projects (e.g. creating lead standard work, housekeeping events)
  • Coordinates problem solving efforts across the plant.
Job requirements:
  • High level of initiative and self-direction.
  • Effective influential leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to apply lean manufacturing tools (standard work, TPM, Six Sigma, A3, 5S, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems and ISO9001
  • Working knowledge of Kanban systems, inventory management and fulfillment strategies.
  • Understanding of OSHA rules and their application to industrial environments.
  • Ability to generate, modify, and organize ideas and/or results in Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, AX, PowerPoint, Outlook (constantly)
  • Ability to design, update and audit plant procedures.
  • Ability to design and administer both classroom-style trainings and TWI-style trainings.
  • Ability to understand, maintain, and improve document control systems effectively.
  • Ability to oversee and facilitate continuous improvement project within the facility.
  • Ability to organize, facilitate, and work in cross-functioning teams.
  • Ability able to read, write, type and speak English.
  • Ability to express ideas and instructions through speaking.
  • Ability to organize thoughts, processes, tasks, or physical objects in a clearly defined, consistent, and logical pattern (constantly).
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people on differing tasks or issues while maintaining a courteous, helpful, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to occasionally work off-shift as required to support plant goals.
