Job Description:
Don's Prepared Foods is the leading manufacturer on the East Coast of prepared gourmet deli salads, gourmet cream cheese spreads, dips, entrée's and more. Don's is a family-owned business and manufactures over 130 products spanning across its three brands Don's Salads, Melanie's Medleys and Artisan Deli. We are currently seeking an Assistant QA Manager to join the QA department at our Schwenksville, PA food manufacturing plant. This is a salary, exempt position that starts at 8AM from Monday-Friday. This role is responsible for assisting the QA Manager with upholding Don's quality requirements and safety and ensuring compliance with our SQF certification. This position will also be backup SQF Practitioner. Candidates who are well-organized, consistent, and have a background in food safety, HACCP, and SQF are strongly encouraged to apply. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred!
Job responsibilities:
Implement, maintain, and improve SQF requirements to ensure the company meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements / Act as backup SQF PractitionerStay up to date with the SQF code and any changesMaintain organized and accurate records Conduct internal auditsIssue Corrective Actions and trainings to plant staff when necessaryWork with department heads to ensure compliance with SQF requirementsParticipate in annual SQF audit and implement improvements as needed based on resultsParticipate in external audits (FDA, USDA, customers, SQF, military)Assist the QA Manager with routine quality/safety proceduresAssist in supplier/ingredient approval processAssist with organoleptic evaluation of finished productsParticipate in HACCP evaluations and coordinate annual HACCP reviewsAssist in writing, reviewing, and updating company food safety SOPs and documentationDevelop and distribute bilingual trainings to employees in Alchemy Training systemObtain translated materials to implement trainingKeep employees engaged and distribute follow up questions to gauge understanding, issuing rewards to food safety starsAssist with reviewing labelsEnsure customer satisfaction by assisting with responses to customer complaints This position supervises the QA Technician & QA Process Control Technician.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field 5+ years of experience in QA food manufacturing HACCP certification Food Safety knowledgeGMP knowledge
Writing Food Safety SOP's Preferred:
SQF practitioner trainingPCQI certification
USDA & FDA
regulated plant experience
FDA/USDA
product labeling experienceStrong supervisory, training, analytical and problem-solving skills requiredExcellent communications skills, well organized and dependableWilling to work a flexible schedule.

Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ability to work in a refrigerated environment 34-38 degrees.
