As a QA Manager within PNC's C&IB organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Lakewood, CO or Dallas, TX Job Summary The Quality Engineering (QE) Manager is responsible for defining, leading, and continuously improving the quality strategy across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This role is part of software engineering and partners closely with the product and business stakeholders to integrate quality early and ensure reliable, scalable, and high-quality software releases. The QE Manager promotes best practices in both manual and automated testing, actively participates in sprint and release cycles, and ensures that quality risks are identified and addressed proactively. The ideal candidate brings strong testing expertise, hands-on automation experience, and the ability to lead and influence teams to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with business and technical goals. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and enforce best practices across all aspects of testing, including manual and automated testing
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, architects, and other stakeholders to integrate quality early in the SDLC
  • Define, maintain, and ensure alignment of the test strategy with business objectives and technical requirements
  • Play an active role in testing activities during sprint execution and release cycles
  • Ensure appropriate test coverage and quality gates are in place throughout development and deployment
  • Produce and maintain required test artifacts for releases
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate risks when quality may be compromised
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, tools, and metrics
  • Support and guide teams in adopting effective automation strategies
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to QE and testing team members ________________________________________ Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and quality engineering principles
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to embed quality early in the SDLC
  • Ability to define and execute a comprehensive test strategy aligned with business and technical needs
  • Experience participating in Agile/Scrum sprint and release cycles
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, raise, and manage quality risks effectively
  • Database experience with SQL for test validation and data analysis
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience with automation testing frameworks and tools
  • Hands-on experience promoting best practices in both manual and automated testing
  • Prior people or team management experience
  • Experience leading or scaling QE practices in an Agile or DevOps environment

Oversee and develop product QA and test plans for each phase of the development cycle. Plans all resources and schedules for functional and performance QA work. Oversees the selection of the QA and testing tool-kit. Supports the overall QA strategy for the team. At least 3 years of prior management experience is typically required. Pay Transparency Base Salary:
$65,000.00
  • $139,150.
00 Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
