Job Description
We have an immediate need in Rock Hill, SC for an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Manager to oversee all quality assurance and quality control activities related to the fabrication, inspection, repair, and testing of ASME pressure vessels, piping systems, and structural components. The QC Manager will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable ASME Codes, customer specifications, and internal quality management systems while ensuring the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with ASME Section VIII Division 1 pressure vessel fabrication, ASME "U" Stamp manufacturing, ASME "R" Stamp repairs and alterations, ASME
B31.1/B31.3
piping code requirements, AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel, and structural steel fabrication and inspection requirements. Key Responsibilities Quality Management & Compliance Manage and maintain the company Quality Management System (QMS).

Process Pipingo AWS welding standardso Customer specifications and contract requirementso Applicable ASTM, ANSI, and API standards Administer and maintain ASME "U" Stamp and National Board "R" Stamp certifications. Interface directly with Authorized Inspectors (AI), customers, auditors, and regulatory agencies. Lead internal and external quality audits. Maintain quality records, documentation packages, and Manufacturer's Data Reports. Ensure proper implementation and maintenance of welding procedures, PQRs, and WPS documentation.
Inspection & Testing Supervise all QC inspection activities throughout fabrication and repair processes. Review fabrication drawings, specifications, and quality requirements prior to production release.
Coordinate and oversee:
o Material receiving inspectionso Dimensional inspectionso Weld inspectionso Hydrostatic testingo Pneumatic testingo Non-destructive examination (NDE)o Final inspections and turnover documentation Verify material traceability throughout manufacturing. Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment. Coordinate third-party inspections and NDE subcontractors.
Welding & Fabrication Oversight Review and approve welding procedures and welder qualifications. Monitor fabrication activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and code requirements. Assist production personnel in resolving quality-related issues. Identify root causes of nonconformances and implement corrective/preventive actions. Review repair procedures and oversee code-compliant repairs.
Documentation & Reporting Prepare and review turnover packages and final quality documentation. Maintain inspection reports, NCR logs, weld maps, material certifications, and code records. Generate and submit ASME and National Board documentation. Provide quality reports and status updates to executive management.
Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop QC inspectors and quality personnel. Establish inspection priorities and schedules to support production timelines. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, project management, and operations teams. Required Qualifications Minimum 7-10 years of quality control management experience in pressure vessel fabrication, piping fabrication, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
Extensive experience with:
ASME Section VIII Division 1o ASME "U" Stamp fabrication. National Board "R" Stamp repairs and alterations. ASME B31.1 and B31.3 piping codes.
Welding processes and fabrication methods. Non-destructive examination (NDE) Material traceability and MTR review. Hydrostatic and pneumatic testing requirements. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and engineering specifications. Experience working directly with Authorized Inspectors and customer representatives. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems. Preferred Qualifications Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) API certifications NDE certifications. Experience with
ISO 9001
quality systems. Experience in hydrogen, energy, chemical, or industrial process industries. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Welding Technology, or related field. Physical Requirements Ability to work in both office and shop environments. Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and access fabrication areas. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to wear required PPE in industrial environments. Work Environment This position operates in a heavy industrial fabrication environment involving welding, grinding, machining, rigging, and pressure testing activities. The QC Manager must maintain a strong safety mindset and ensure compliance with all company safety policies.
