Job Description

Thompson is headquartered in Sumter, South Carolina with offices spanning the United States, primarily southeast and central United States. Position Description Oversee the planning, implementation, and supervision of Thompson's quality control plan in all aspects of construction processes on all sites. Oversee quality programs and ensure compliance with all company and customer quality requirements. This includes working with employees as well as outside agencies or consultants involved in inspections and testing. Job Responsibilities Develop, maintain and oversee Quality Control plans and testing plans conforming to contract requirements and Thompson's "best practices". Review records relating to testing data, and applying statistical quality control procedures. Ensure all Quality Control records are to be maintained in an orderly, easily accessible, up to date and secure manner. Develop extensive working relationships with customers, both external and internal, in order to maximize opportunities for the company and ensure customer needs are addressed. Establish policies and procedures for Quality Control of field work. Provide field construction quality control oversight on projects. Develop quality control reports, post construction reports and detailed progress reporting. Develop and manage project execution strategies to include determination of task components for successful project execution. Provide oversight to project team members, and client to ensure that construction activities are completed according to design. Initiate stop work or re-work in coordination with the project team in circumstances where nonconformance to prescribed work methodologies occurs. Ensure that all materials, workmanship and construction are in full compliance with the contract plans and specifications, and all applicable building codes. Oversee and issue non-conformance reports and provide corrective action to eliminate potential future non-conforming work. Require that defective work or material be corrected or removed until made compliant. Direct and coordinate activities of all phases of construction (welding, concrete, piping, HVAC and electrical) quality control groups within the company. Lead the organization in defining Quality Control standards and procedures with each newly definable feature of work. Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner and integrate well into the project team. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent combination of education preferred. 10+ years of work experience in a position directly related to quality control. Knowledge of code stamps and welder certifications Familiarity with construction workplace health and safety concepts. Applicable certification in Quality preferred. Must be able to use Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows. Meticulous attention to detail and completes documentation in timely manner. Exercise independent thinking and reasoning. Able to communicate in written and oral formats with diplomacy and tact. Must be at least 18 years of age Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively. Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements Benefits We strive to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package.
