Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced QA/QC Manager to lead and maintain the quality management system for our AISC Certified structural steel fabrication facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with AISC certification requirements, AWS welding standards, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive fabrication quality experience, and a solid background in welding inspection and structural steel manufacturing. Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain the company Quality Management System in accordance with AISC Certification Program requirements
  • Ensure compliance with AISC standards, AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code, customer project specifications, and internal fabrication procedures
  • Prepare for and lead annual AISC audits and customer quality inspections
  • Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC procedures, inspection plans, and documentation
  • Manage all welding quality activities including WPS/PQR documentation, welder qualifications, weld inspections, and non-conformance reporting
  • Oversee incoming material inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections
  • Coordinate third-party testing and NDT activities
  • Review shop drawings and fabrication documents for quality compliance
  • Ensure material traceability and documentation accuracy throughout fabrication
  • Work closely with project management, detailing, and production teams to resolve quality issues
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve fabrication quality and efficiency
  • Train shop personnel on quality standards, welding procedures, and inspection requirements Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of QA/QC experience in structural steel fabrication
  • Working knowledge of the AISC Certification Program and audit process
  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of AWS D1.1, structural steel fabrication practices, welding inspection procedures, and dimensional inspection methods
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, welding symbols, and engineering specifications
  • Experience maintaining quality records and documentation systems
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital quality reporting systems Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an AISC Certified fabrication facility
  • Knowledge of fracture critical or bridge fabrication requirements
  • Experience coordinating NDT processes
  • Familiarity with ISO-based quality systems
  • Supervisory or management experience in a fabrication environment Compensation & Benefits

$75,000.00 - $101,000.00 per year
