Job Description

Quality Control (QC) Manager - Manufacturing / Fabrication (Sawing, Swaging, Bucking) SUMMARY The QC Manager is responsible for leading all quality assurance and quality control functions within a precision manufacturing environment specializing in sawing, swaging, and bucking processes . This role ensures that all materials, machining processes, and finished components meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. The QC Manager will drive continuous improvement, maintain compliance standards, and ensure operational excellence across all shop activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 and company standards Oversee quality control processes across cutting (sawing), material deformation (swaging), and end-finishing (bucking) operations Ensure all products meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, tolerances, and material requirements Lead inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface integrity Establish and enforce inspection procedures specific to metal cutting, forming, and finishing processes Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues and non-conformances Manage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and customer requirements Maintain accurate documentation including inspection reports, material certifications, and non-conformance reports Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of measurement and inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) Track and report key quality metrics such as defect rates, rework, and production yield Partner with production, engineering, and operations teams to improve process efficiency and product quality Train and mentor QC personnel and shop employees on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices Collaborate with customers and third-party inspectors during audits, inspections, and project reviews Evaluate vendor and material quality to ensure consistency in incoming products
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience in quality control or quality management within manufacturing, machining, or metal fabrication environments Strong knowledge of
ISO 9001
standards and QMS implementation/maintenance Experience working with metal processing operations such as cutting, forming, or finishing (sawing, swaging, bucking preferred) Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, tolerances, and specifications Hands-on experience with inspection tools and measurement techniques Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience leading audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives Certification such as Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is a plus
