Summary:
The Senior Mortgage Quality Control (QC) Reviewer performs advanced analytical and oversight work involved in maintaining the integrity of the QC program. This role is responsible for conducting complex audits of serviced loans, identifying systemic risks, and ensuring strict adherence to federal and state regulations. As a senior-level position, the individual will mentor junior staff, lead specialized audit projects, and provide high-level insights to leadership to drive process improvements and mitigate portfolio risk. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Execute complex, multi-stage quality control audits, including pre-funding, post-closing, and servicing reviews, ensuring total alignment with internal, investor, and agency standards. Perform deep-dive evaluations of loan files for accuracy, meticulously verifying complex income structures, assets, liabilities, and disclosures. Serve as a subject matter expert on federal mandates, including TRID, HMDA, ECOA, and RESPA, ensuring the department stays ahead of regulatory changes. Analyze loan-level exceptions to identify root causes and develop strategic remediation plans based on current agency guidelines. Develop and present comprehensive monthly trend reports and data visualizations for executive leadership to guide strategic decision-making. Lead specialized projects and process improvement initiatives related to evolving regulatory requirements and system enhancements. Oversee and validate the re-verification process for credit and employment, ensuring data consistency and reporting accuracy. Lead the investigation and formal resolution of sensitive consumer complaints and high-risk findings. Consistently meet or exceed advanced production targets while maintaining the highest quality standards. Monitor and manage monthly QC metrics, ensuring all exceptions across the team are tracked, addressed, and closed within established timeframes. Facilitate training sessions and calibration meetings to ensure departmental consistency and mentor junior reviewers. Conduct high-level reviews of delinquent loans and Early Payment Default (EPD) audits to detect potential fraud or sophisticated underwriting deficiencies. Proactively update QC checklists, exhibits, and audit templates to reflect changes in agency guidelines. Other duties as assigned, including high-level project management and system testing. Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight and lead collaborative team efforts. Strong professional written communication skills for executive-level reporting. Thrives in high-volume, deadline-driven environments with shifting priorities. Education/Experience Minimum five to seven years of experience in mortgage QC, Underwriting, or Compliance. High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in finance or 10 experience in mortgage industry. Direct experience with agency (FNMA/FHLMC/FHA) audit requirements and proprietary system builds. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite (Expert level Excel preferred). Industry-standard database and audit software (e.g., QC Ally, LQ Pro). Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and proprietary servicing platforms.
