Assistant Quality Assurance Manager

NATURE AND SCOPE
To assist the Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining the quality and integrity of products produced.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in achieving and maintaining production and packaging quality standards. Establish and maintain the consistency of product grading on all shifts. Train and monitor performance of QA and Sanitation personnel. Document and correct deficiencies in implementation or execution of lab procedures. Monitor raw products. Monitor performance of sanitation crews and correlate bacteria sampling and line conditions to minimize contamination. Maintain a bacteria sampling program to generate line and environmental profiles, correlate with line conditions, and implement corrective actions to minimize product contamination. Maintain complete and accurate records. Review daily processing records for completeness, accuracy and compliance to regulatory standards. Discuss with appropriate personnel any incomplete records, inaccurate records or improper procedures in the processing of products. Maintain quality documents, including weight control, grading and outside purchase evaluation. Manage positive release programs and microbiological reporting, including prioritizing testing for lab personnel. Accurately completes certificates of analysis in a timely manner. Organize and prepare required documentation and certificates for export of finished products including working directly with buyers and export broker personnel. Assist QA Manager in reviewing and gathering information on microbiological, quality and packaging specifications for bulk, outside purchase and finished products. Oversee internal pest control program and order supplies as needed. Manage product waste and food bank programs. Act as department liaison with third-party cold storage facility. Track and prepare reports from quality KPIs. Review, track and manage hold, re-inspection and rework inventories. Provide routine oversight with employees on the production and packaging floor. Provide coverage for QA Supervisors as needed to assure department objectives are met. Provide active, personal involvement in the plant environment to assure department objectives are met. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
College degree preferred but not required. Experience in a related field helpful. Ability to lead and supervise others to achieve departmental goals. Thorough knowledge of all food processing equipment used in the facility preferred. Familiarity with USDA product standards and product grading procedures preferred. High level of clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational skills and accurate record keeping. All new employee hiring is contingent upon passing a drug screen.
