Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Lead is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the quality control systems that ensure production is consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals. Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Lead serves as a primary technical authority for color OK's (customer, sales, and plant). This role involves not only monitoring plant-wide quality but also providing guidance to the QC team to ensure the highest standards are met across all shifts.WHAT YOU'LL DO ON THE A-TEAM
Act as the primary lead for customer-facing and internal color OK's, ensuring a high level of satisfaction through expert communication and technical mastery. Oversee concierge services for visiting clients, ensuring professional hospitality and occasionally providing transportation to and from the office. Methodically inspect post-color OK copies to identify and resolve complex print issues, including job line accuracy, color precision, folds, paper integrity, and marking. Diagnose quality issues at any project stage; serve as the key liaison to press supervisors to communicate equipment or manning issues before production is impacted. Provide high-level statistical expertise to the sampling process. Investigate complex quality issues, escalate unresolved defects to the QC Manager, and ensure the integrity of the Sample department. Recommend and implement standardized procedures to ensure color consistency across all press and production platforms. Direct online inspection and testing activities to maintain high productivity. Responsible for overseeing the Chain of Custody for quality copies. Audit and report monthly press time pulls. Apply Total Quality Management (TQM) tools to analyze data and present actionable quality reports to management.WHAT YOU'LL NEED
5+ years of related printing experience, specifically with color OK's and direct customer interaction. Proven experience in a quality control environment with a deep understanding of web-offset press, premedia, and finishing operations. Strong results-orientation with the ability to lead by example. We are seeking a self-motivated, goal-driven individual committed to continuous improvement. Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of managing high-stakes client visits and technical discussions with production staff. Ability to work flexible hours as determined by production needs and the Quality Control Manager. High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certifications in print/color management preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
