Construction Materials Testing Technician

Construction Materials Technician Smith & Annala Engineering Co. (SAECO) provides geotechnical engineering, construction QA/QC, and environmental services to clients across the Southwestern U.S. The firm is locally owned and operated and is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. We have excellent opportunities for full-time and part-time employment opportunities in our Tempe office for entry-level and mid-level Field and Laboratory Technicians. ATTI Soils and/or ACI Concrete certifications are preferred, but not required, for experienced candidates. For entry level technicians, we will provide all of the necessary training and assistance needed to become successful in this field.

Job Requirements:

Perform routine field and laboratory testing as directed.

Including:

Soils Testing:

Perform field density testing or laboratory testing.

Concrete Testing:

Sample concrete at the project site and perform field testing as required during the placement of the concrete.

Hot Mix Asphalt:

Sample hot mix asphalt at the project site or plant. Perform field testing during the placement of the hot mix asphalt. Follow company safety policies, including driving and working safely. The employee will be frequently required to work outside including off-hours (early morning or weekends). The employee will be frequently required to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Required Skills:

Basic math skills Ability to clearly communicate in English, both verbally and in writing Ability to read maps and follow directions

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 0 to 5 years related work experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license with satisfactory history ATTI Soils and ACI Concrete Field Testing Certification, preferred. Or ability to acquire ATTI and ACI certification within 6 months of hire.
