Job Description

Spectra360 is seeking a reliable, hardworking Quality Control Technician to join our team. You will manage advanced quality verification activities, environmental monitoring, and equipment calibration to ensure all products meet strict safety and regulatory standards. You will support continuous improvement efforts, assist with root-cause investigations, and provide guidance to entry-level QC technicians. Quality Control Technician:
$24.00/hour
Quality Control Technician Schedule:
2:00 PM to 10:30-11:00 PM (MUST be able to do
OT AND WEEKENDS
) Key Responsibilities Quality Testing & Verification Perform microbiological and sanitation monitoring, including ATP hygiene swabs and Listeria environmental swabbing Conduct quality system verifications (metal detector/X-ray checks, CCP monitoring, labeling audits) Perform allergen control checks, including post-cleaning validation swabs Execute product quality evaluations (weight, dimensions, appearance, labeling, sensory checks) Equipment & Calibration Calibrate pH meters, scales, thermometers, and other QC equipment on scheduled intervals Maintain calibration and verification records for audit readiness Troubleshoot calibration discrepancies and escalate as needed Non-Conformance & Food Safety Response Initiate product holds for deviations (e.g., metal detector failure, out-of-spec pH) Document and communicate food safety and quality issues promptly Participate in root-cause analyses and corrective/preventive action initiatives Leadership & Training Train and support Level 1 technicians on GMPs, testing protocols, and SOP compliance Support cross-functional teams and foster a culture of food safety awareness General Maintain accurate electronic and paper documentation Participate in GMP audits, operational inspections, and environmental monitoring tasks Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, allergen control, and food safety programs Microbiological testing and environmental monitoring protocols in RTE environments Calibration standards, traceability, and regulatory compliance requirements
USDA/FDA RTE
product regulations and quality metrics Foreign material control systems (metal detectors, X-ray, visual inspection) QC software and electronic documentation systems Skills Skilled in performing CCP checks, sanitation verifications, and quality audits Proficient with testing methods (pH, titration, ATP, allergen/ environmental swabbing) Accurate and timely documentation skills (handwritten & digital) Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and detect non-conformities Strong communication and cross-department collaboration Effective time-management and ability to work in fast-paced production settings Abilities Independently conduct GMP audits, operational line checks, and hold procedures Interpret SOPs, specifications, and regulatory requirements Respond quickly to radio calls and production needs without follow-up reminders Work across multiple production lines and adapt to shifting priorities Identify risks during maintenance activities and initiate food-safety work orders Recommend improvements and participate in problem-solving teams Train new QC techs and support higher-level coverage during staffing shortages Lift up to 50 lbs; stand for extended periods in cold, wet, or hot environments Work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, as needed
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma required; Associate's in Food Science preferred
Experience:
1-3 years in RTE food manufacturing or related quality/production environment
Certifications:
HACCP preferred; familiarity with
SQF/FSMA
principles
Technology:
Proficient in QC systems, electronic documentation, and basic PC skills
Additional:
Strong problem-solving and time-management skills; ability to work independently
