This position is responsible for performing first article, in-process, and final inspections of high-precision machined components used in aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, and other demanding industries. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation, and CMM programming/operation, with the ability to independently verify complex dimensional requirements and support continuous quality improvement initiatives. Essential Responsibilities Inspection & Verification Perform receiving, first article, in-process, and final inspections. Verify conformance of machined components to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Inspect complex precision-machined parts using CMMs, optical comparators, height gauges, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other precision inspection equipment. Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions. CMM Programming & Operation Program, operate, and troubleshoot CMM equipment. Create and optimize inspection routines from engineering drawings and CAD models. Validate dimensional data and generate inspection reports. Maintain CMM calibration and verification procedures. GD&T & Blueprint Interpretation Interpret and inspect features per
ASME Y14.5 GD&T
standards.
Evaluate feature control frames including:
True Position Profile Flatness Parallelism Perpendicularity Runout Concentricity Circularity Support manufacturing and engineering teams in resolving dimensional and tolerance-related issues. Documentation & Quality Systems Generate and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements. Maintain accurate inspection records and traceability documentation. Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions. Support internal audits and continuous improvement activities. Required Qualifications 5+ years of quality inspection experience in a precision machining environment. Expert-level blueprint reading skills. Advanced understanding of
ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
Experience programming and operating CMM equipment.
Strong proficiency using:
Micrometers Calipers Bore gauges Height gauges Pin gauges Thread gauges Optical comparators Experience with First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102 preferred). Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and inspection software. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Experience with aerospace, medical, defense, semiconductor, or high-precision manufacturing.
Experience with:
CMM Manager Other CMM software platforms Experience using Nikon, Mitutoyo, Zeiss, Hexagon, or Brown & Sharpe CMM systems. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems. Knowledge of SPC and statistical analysis methods. Ability to perform measurement system analysis (MSA/Gage R&R). Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to visually inspect small and detailed components. Manual dexterity required for handling precision measurement equipment. Compensation Pay Range:
$35-$50+ per hour
