Full Job Description Summary:
All inspectors (L1-3) must be able to read and comprehend drawing blueprints and specifications of any part; understand the inspection process and be able to inspect part features based on the print specifications. Inspectors should be able to differentiate acceptable and unacceptable parts based on their own findings and the specifications/requirements provided. Key Responsibilities (but not limited to): Follow routers and scan inspection steps as completed. Maintain appropriate inspection records (notes and measurements on drawings, automatically generated electronic records, etc.). Perform cosmetic and/or other basic inspections for all parts. Photograph and digitally catalog certain parts as requested. Document and disposition non-conforming material and verify effectiveness of rework operations per DMR process. Work with Quality Management on corrective/preventive actions as needed. Assist with calibration maintenance and continually verify calibration status as tools are used. Provide feedback to management to update documents for relevancy (IE DMR form, PIR, etc). Enter and monitor data as requested by management. Assist other inspectors as needed. Perform visual and dimensional inspections for incoming and in-process machine shop and sheet metal parts (including flat pattern). Perform First Article and Up-Rev inspections. Submit and record FAI dimensions to FAI processor as required. Use typical measuring devices (micrometer, calipers, optical comparator, thread gages, go/nogo gages, height gages, etc) to inspect basic and intermediate dimensional requirements. Understanding of industry best practices and standards in relation to machine shop and sheet metal. Communicate planning and router issues as appropriate and ensure corrections made for future production runs (PIR).
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED. One to two years related experience or equivalent. Basic knowledge of inspection equipment and processes. Basic math skills with use of a calculator. Proficient in blueprint reading and using measuring devices. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with quality and machining departments. Previous experience in dimensional inspection practices and equipment. Strong understanding of basic dimensional requirements on machine shop and sheet metal blueprints. Ability to train Class I Operator.
