Quality Technician Job Details:
Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, technical training, or equivalent manufacturing quality experience required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, manufacturing quality, or related technical roles. Experience with first article inspections, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and manufacturing audits preferred. Working knowledge of quality tools such as 8D, SPC, FMEA, control plans, and continuous improvement methodologies. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documents. Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and inspection tools. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and reporting systems. ASQ certifications such as CQT, CQA, CQPA, or CSSGB are a plus. Key Responsibilities:
Perform product inspections, quality audits, first article inspections (FAI), out-of-box audits (OBA), and incoming material inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards. Inspect raw materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products for dimensional, cosmetic, electrical, and mechanical characteristics. Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, layouts, and quality documentation to support inspection and testing activities. Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive action activities for internal manufacturing and supplier-related quality issues. Audit manufacturing processes for compliance with ESD handling practices, documentation accuracy, training requirements, and process integrity standards. Collect, analyze, and report quality data using statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. Perform calibration activities for inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and related measuring instruments. Maintain calibration tracking systems, coordinate external calibration services, and ensure calibration records remain current and compliant. Support engineering and manufacturing teams by analyzing test results, implementing process improvements, and resolving quality concerns related to purchased materials and production processes. Prepare quality reports, charts, graphs, and audit documentation using quality systems and computer-based reporting tools.
