With over 25 years of experience, AST has built a strong reputation for precision engineering, innovation, and high-quality manufacturing. Located in Oxnard, California, AST operates out of a cutting-edge facility spanning over 250,000 sq. ft., including our newest expansion completed in 2024. AST employs approximately 185 skilled professionals across multi-shift operations, ensuring efficiency, precision, and timely delivery for mission-critical industries. Position Overview We are seeking a quality inspector to support our quality assurance department in verifying that components meet all engineering specifications and standards. This is a high-visibility role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where attention to detail, consistency, and initiative are critical. The ideal candidate will have experience in dimensional inspection using both traditional hand tools and digital technologies such as laser scanners and PolyWorks software. Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect incoming materials, in-process and finished parts to ensure they meet engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards.
  • Use precision inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gauges, and other tools to measure product features
  • Perform 3D part inspections and dimensional analysis using laser scanning equipment and PolyWorks software (training available if needed)
  • Record inspection data accurately and working with engineering to determine part acceptance or rejection based on requirements
  • Document and communicate non-conforming conditions to manufacturing personnel
  • Perform routine quality audits to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and work instructions
  • Calibrate, maintain and keep 5S for all tools per internal procedures and schedules
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and inspection documentation to identify critical dimensions and tolerances
  • Complete nonconforming material reports (NCMRs) and initiate corrective action requests (CARs) as required
  • Support material review board (MRB) processes by identifying, documenting, and routing discrepant material for disposition
  • Maintain inspection area cleanliness, organization, and adherence to quality policies and safety guidelines Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools and basic shop math
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols
  • Experience with laser scanning tools and dimensional analysis software such as PolyWorks is highly desirable
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify defects and discrepancies
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to follow established inspection procedures and contribute to continuous improvement, familiarity with quality control processes is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 pounds products for inspection
  • Experience using Faro, Creaform or other digital inspection tools is a plus
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or coursework in quality or manufacturing is a plus Why Join AST?

Expected Hours:
