Birdon is seeking a highly detail-oriented and skilled Quality Technician to join our team and ensure the precision and compliance of our products. As a Quality Technician specializing in Dimensional Inspection, you will play a critical role in maintaining quality standards by conducting measurements, inspections, and analyses of components and assemblies. This is a hands-on position that requires close and effective working relationship with manufacturing, engineering, assembly & test, project management, administration, purchasing and warehousing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct regular inspections and tests on products and raw materials to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges and other precision instruments. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure product adherence to requirements. Document and report inspection findings, including non-conformance issues, and communicate effectively with the production and engineering teams. Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality-related issues. Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. Conduct 1st Article inspection on machined, formed, outsourced and cut parts. Assist in training employees on quality standards and best practices, fostering a culture of quality within the organization. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending changes to processes that enhance product quality. Active participation in internal audits of the quality management system.
Qualifications / Skills
/
Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Experience in dimensional inspection and quality control, particularly in manufacturing or engineering environments. Experience with weld inspections is a plus. Proficiency in using measurement tools and interpreting technical documentation, GD&T. Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) is an advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and team facilitation skills including customer interaction. Ability to work under limited supervision. Strong attention to detail, communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in a related field or Technical certification or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level. Occasional travel may be required for audits, supplier visits, or customer meetings. Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to strand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
