Job Description

Quality Manager - Structural Steel Fabrication A growing structural steel fabrication company is seeking a highly experienced Quality Manager to lead and enforce quality standards across shop operations. This is a critical leadership role for someone who understands steel fabrication at a deep level and is willing to hold the line when it matters. This position serves as the final gate before product reaches the customer. The right candidate builds and leads a team that is confident, detail-driven, and unafraid to stop or reject work that does not meet requirements. What You'll Do Lead all quality functions within a structural steel fabrication environment Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and applicable codes Oversee inspections across welding, fit-up, cutting, and final assembly Ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, and customer-specific standards Act as the final authority on product acceptance or rejection Build and mentor a quality team that enforces standards without compromise Partner with production to resolve issues—but never at the expense of quality Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence What You Bring Extensive experience in structural steel fabrication (required) Strong working knowledge of welding processes, joint preparation, WPS, and inspection methods Ability to read and interpret complex shop drawings and specifications Proven track record of enforcing quality standards in a production environment Confidence to push back and make difficult calls when needed CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) strongly preferred What Sets You Apart You understand that quality is not a department—it's a standard.
