Job Description

Position Summary HOB Industries is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to support our precision metal-stamping operation. This role is responsible for inspecting parts, documenting results, communicating quality concerns, and performing internal process audits to confirm that employees are following established procedures and completing required records accurately. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable with precision measuring equipment and data entry, and able to communicate clearly with production, tooling, and management personnel. Responsibilities Product Inspection Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, final, and dock inspections. Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, appearance, and conformance to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Use digital and electronic micrometers, digital and vernier calipers, go/no-go gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, inspection fixtures, and other standard measuring tools. Perform visual inspections for burrs, cracks, deformation, contamination, plating or finish concerns, mixed parts, and other defects. Read and interpret drawings, dimensions, tolerances, inspection instructions, and quality requirements. Verify that inspection equipment is appropriate, available, and within calibration. Identify and segregate accepted, rejected, and quarantined material. Assist with sorting, containment, and additional inspection activities when quality issues arise. Internal Process Auditing Perform scheduled and unscheduled internal process audits throughout the manufacturing operation. Verify that employees are following approved work instructions, control plans, inspection requirements, and quality procedures. Confirm that first-piece and in-process inspections are completed at the required frequency. Review production records, inspection forms, job travelers, material identification, and traceability documentation for completeness and accuracy. Confirm that the correct material, tooling, gauges, packaging, labels, and inspection equipment are being used. Audit the handling and identification of raw material, work-in-process, finished goods, rejected parts, and nonconforming material. Review housekeeping, organization, and process-control practices that may affect quality. Document findings, communicate concerns, and follow up to confirm corrective actions are completed. Help identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve procedures, documentation, training, and controls. Participate in internal quality-system audits and corrective-action activities as assigned. Documentation and Communication Accurately record measurements, inspection results, audit findings, and other quality information in electronic systems, spreadsheets, and inspection forms. Maintain organized and complete quality records. Clearly communicate quality concerns to production, tooling, supervisors, and management. Include complete information when reporting an issue, including part number, work-order number, specification, actual measurement, quantity affected, and relevant observations. Escalate potential quality problems promptly before additional material is produced or shipped. Assist with nonconforming-material documentation and corrective-action investigations. Maintain a clean and organized inspection area. Required Qualifications Previous experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, machining, metal stamping, or a related production environment. Experience using micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges, pin gauges, and thread gauges. Ability to read manufacturing drawings and understand dimensions, tolerances, and inspection requirements. Strong attention to detail, organization, and recordkeeping skills. Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, and manufacturing or quality systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to question a process, document concerns, and communicate findings professionally. Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open items. Dependable attendance and a team-oriented attitude. Preferred Qualifications Experience inspecting precision metal stampings or other close-tolerance components. Experience performing manufacturing or layered process audits. Familiarity with first-piece, in-process, receiving, and final inspection. Experience working within an ISO 9001 or similar quality-management system. Familiarity with control plans, work instructions, job travelers, traceability, nonconforming-material procedures, and corrective actions. Experience with electronic inspection equipment, digital data collection, calibration requirements, and basic sampling methods. Physical Requirements Ability to work in both an inspection area and an active manufacturing environment. Ability to handle small parts and use precision measuring equipment throughout the day. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and move containers weighing up to 30 pounds. Ability to visually inspect small features and identify subtle defects. Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
