Production Quality Technician Job Description The Production Quality Technician supports daily production and quality control activities in a fresh-cut produce manufacturing facility. This hands-on role works directly on the production floor to ensure food quality, safety, and efficient manufacturing operations. The technician collaborates closely with production and quality leadership on equipment setup, monitoring, sampling, documentation, and overall production support. Responsibilities Perform daily sampling and monitoring of critical control points, including water testing, metal detection, temperatures, product weights, chemical concentrations, and packaging integrity. Assist with production processes and support line changeovers to maintain efficient and consistent operations. Set up production equipment prior to the start of each shift and maintain equipment performance throughout the day. Operate and monitor metal detectors to ensure product safety and compliance with quality standards. Perform basic quality and laboratory tasks such as chemical titrations and equipment calibration. Maintain cleanliness and strong housekeeping practices across the facility, including floors, work areas, and equipment zones. Support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance by monitoring processes and communicating needed adjustments during production. Investigate and report non-conformance issues to quality and production leadership in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain accurate, complete, and organized quality assurance and production logs and documentation. Identify and report food quality concerns and product defects to prevent non-compliant product from reaching customers. Test and safely handle basic sanitizers and food contact chemicals in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements, including HACCP, GMPs, FDA, OSHA, and FSMA guidelines. Assist with warehouse activities such as stacking boxes, building pallets, and using pallet jacks and hand trucks. Support onboarding and compliance activities related to theFSMA 204
Food Traceability Rule. Communicate clearly with team members and leadership to support a safe, efficient, and quality-focused operation. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Ability to perform quality control and inspection activities in a production environment. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow safety protocols and work safely around machinery. Comfortable working independently while remaining under appropriate supervision. Willingness and ability to work in a cold and damp environment under 40 degrees. Valid driver's license. Additional Skills & Qualifications Food production or quality experience is preferred but not required; training is available for motivated candidates. HACCP, ServSafe, or auditing certifications are preferred. Experience with quality assurance, quality inspection, and quality checks in a production or lab setting is beneficial. Experience with basic laboratory techniques such as chemical titrations and equipment calibration is a plus. Familiarity with GMPs, FDA, OSHA, FSMA, and HACCP principles is advantageous. Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is a plus but not required. Work Environment This role is based in a fresh-cut produce manufacturing facility and requires daily work on the production floor. The typical shift begins at 5:30 a.m., with an end time between approximately 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., depending on order volumes. The environment is cold and damp, with temperatures under 40 degrees, and involves working around production machinery, metal detectors, and food processing equipment. The position may include physical tasks such as stacking boxes, building pallets, and operating pallet jacks and hand trucks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
