Job Title:
Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector plays a key role in supporting a busy CNC manufacturing environment by performing first piece, in-process, and final inspections of machined components for aerospace, defense, and medical applications. This position ensures that all products meet stringent quality standards and customer requirements while contributing to efficient, reliable production workflows in a contract manufacturing shop. Responsibilities Perform first piece acceptance inspections on the shop floor to support CNC manufacturing operations and verify that initial parts meet all specifications. Conduct in-process inspections as needed to monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing cycle and identify issues early. Complete thorough final inspections on finished parts prior to shipment, ensuring all dimensional, visual, and documentation requirements are met. Prepare and finalize inspection documentation packages, including all required customer paperwork, to support the shipment of finished products. Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine inspection criteria and verify conformance. Use standard inspection instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, and other measuring tools to inspect machined components. Support efficient production workflows by communicating inspection findings clearly and collaborating with production personnel to resolve quality issues. Perform other quality-related tasks as assigned to support the overall success of the manufacturing operation. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a job shop environment. Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting inspecting machined components. Proficiency in using standard inspection instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gages, and indicators. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately. Ability to interpret and work with customer paperwork to complete final inspection documents required for shipment. Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment. Solid attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards. Foundational knowledge of quality inspection practices and quality control principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of trigonometry is a plus and supports more complex inspection tasks. Working knowledge of gage calibration systems is a plus. Experience in quality inspection within aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing environments is beneficial. Familiarity with contract manufacturing processes and requirements is advantageous. Work Environment This is a full-time, first-shift position based in a state-of-the-art CNC machine shop. The facility features a clean, organized, and centrally air-conditioned environment that supports comfort and focus throughout the workday. You will work on the manufacturing floor alongside skilled machinists and technicians, using precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, and indicators to inspect machined components. The pace is fast and production-oriented, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, documentation, and collaboration to meet customer and industry standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
