Job Description

JOB Responsible work related to the operation of computerized scale and cash register for collection of fees at a county landfill. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Environmental Services Director.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Inspects all loads arriving for disposal. Computes charges on weight and volume basis. Measures truck in cubic yards to determine correct volume. Notifies vehicle owner of requirement to label truck capacity. Keeps and maintains records of activity. Records totals of vehicles, volumes, and categories of refuse. Maintains cash and charge accounts. Maintains area in and around scale house. Operates computerized weigh station requiring basic understanding of micro-computer hardware. Answers the phone, provides information to the public, advises customers of landfill rules, helps customers, and answers questions.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year experience handling money or bookkeeping experience and working with the public or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
