- Quality Control Inspector Dixie Metal Products ("Dixie") is seeking a skilled and dedicated QC Inspector to join our team. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring all manufactured components and assemblies conform to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and applicable industry standards. Working on the shop floor alongside production teams, this individual performs in-process and final inspections, documents nonconformances, and partners with engineering and operations to drive continuous quality improvement across steel and aluminum fabrication operations. Perform dimensional inspections of fabricated steel and aluminum parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, tape measures, squares, and other precision instruments. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections at incoming material, in-process, and final stages. Inspect weld quality, surface finish, hardware installation, and assembly completeness per applicable standards. Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, weld symbols, and fabrication tolerances to verify conformance. Maintain calibration logs and ensure measuring equipment is within calibration cycle. Identify, tag, document, and isolate nonconforming products and materials to prevent mixing with good stock. THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
2+ years of quality inspection experience in a metal fabrication, structural steel, or industrial manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently under production-floor conditions. Proficient with hand measurement tools:
calipers, micrometers, height gauges, angle gauges, and weld gauges. Familiarity with AWS D1.1
(Structural Welding - Steel) and/or AWS D1.2
(Structural Welding - Aluminum). Previous experience working in a shop environment subject to noise, heat, metal particulates, and welding fumes (appropriate PPE provided and required). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and material specifications. Local to Ocala, FL area.
