Base Pay:
$16.26 - $20.33/hr
  • Closing Date:

  • This position is responsible for processing the live weight of inbound and outbound vehicles at various municipal refuse locations throughout the County by entering the information into vehicle tracking software.
Other duties performed include collecting and processing payment from exiting vehicles, processing commercial accounts, and daily administrative tasks. This a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Serves as the first point of contact for the facility by greeting and directing customers to the proper disposal location in a service-oriented manner, answering questions, and resolving issues with an emphasis on tact and courtesy Monitors and applies the provisions of solid and hazardous waste environmental regulations, Landfill Operations agreement, and other applicable federal, state, and local codes, laws, regulations, specifications, standards, and policies regarding waste acceptance Reports to supervisor any actions needed to correct deviations or violations Identifies all material types brought to the location applying the provisions of solid and hazardous waste environmental regulations, Landfill Operations agreement, and other applicable federal, state, and local codes, laws, regulations, specifications, standards, and policies regarding waste acceptance; reports to supervisor any actions needed to correct deviations or violations Ensures that trucks are properly positioned on scales Generates accurate tickets by identifying incoming material and customers then entering the information into the scale house database Provides customer assistance with transaction processing at unmanned scale, as needed Exercises independent judgment in enforcing facility rules and regulations and resolving issues Performs daily cash drawer operations by preparing, auditing, and reconciling the opening and closing of documentation and deposit slips Calculates measurements accurately using calculator for manual tickets Performs daily administrative tasks, including processing and disseminating computer reports Prepares daily bank bag for transport Opens and closes scale house facility by arming/disarming alarm, signing on to each computer and preparing daily paperwork Reports all transaction and software-related issues to supervisor Prepares reports and sales tickets for archiving Operates two-way radio and phones, as needed, to communicate with work-site operators and office personnel Utilizes and maintains specialized equipment or tools associated with job duties, which may include a motor vehicle, two-way radio, and digital camera Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees and the public Participates in required training and meetings Works rotating shifts that include some Saturdays and holidays with overtime, as needed
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of clerical, customer service-oriented experience, including one year of cashiering experience; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license Must obtain Trained Landfill Spotter credential within one year of employment Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs): recordkeeping principles cash handling principles, including tabulating, recording, and balancing transactions performing data entry in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe program performing accurate mathematical calculations with a calculator including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division communication and interpersonal relations, as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction understand and follow oral and written instructions learn rules of the facility and how to operate any specialized tools or equipment needed operate an electronic weighing scale and computer console operate standard office equipment and minor troubleshooting perform minor troubleshooting of electronic processing systems

Emergency Management Responsibilities:
During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
This position typically requires: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, kneeling, climbing, hand dexterity, and repetitive motions. Moderate to
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. This position requires long periods of standing and the incumbent may be exposed to dusts, odors, all weather conditions, loud noises, and workplace restrictions.
