Quality Control Inspector Tech -

Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector Tech plays a vital role in ensuring that each stage of the boat manufacturing process meets the highest quality standards. This position involves inspecting materials, components, and finished products throughout the various manufacturing processes, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Incoming Material Inspection Inspect raw materials and components upon arrival to ensure they meet specified quality standards and specifications. Verify certifications and compliance documentation from suppliers. Record and report any discrepancies or non-conformance to the purchasing department. 2. Lamination Process Inspection Monitor the lamination process for quality adherence, including resin application, curing times, and structural integrity. Inspect laminated parts for defects such as bubbles, delamination, or uneven surfaces. Conduct tests on samples to ensure proper adhesion and strength. 3. Assembly Inspection Inspect the assembly of various boat components to ensure accurate fit and finish. Verify the installation of electrical systems, plumbing, and other essential components for functionality and safety. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure conformity with design specifications. 4. Finishing Inspection Monitor the painting and finishing processes to ensure uniform application and adherence to quality standards. Inspect for surface imperfections, such as runs, sags, or discoloration. Verify that all finishes meet environmental and durability standards. 5. Final Inspection Conduct comprehensive inspections of finished boats before delivery, ensuring compliance with all specifications and customer requirements. Perform functional tests on mechanical and electrical systems to ensure proper operation. Document findings and generate final inspection reports for management and clients. 6. Process Audits and Continuous Improvement Participate in regular audits of the manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with quality assurance protocols. Collaborate with production teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement corrective actions as needed. Provide training and guidance to staff on quality standards and inspection procedures. 7. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of inspections, including non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and quality metrics. Prepare regular reports for management detailing inspection results, trends, and areas for improvement. Assist in the development and maintenance of quality control documentation and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
o High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in quality assurance, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or inspection roles, preferably in the marine or manufacturing industry. o Familiarity with boat manufacturing processes and standards is a plus.
Skills:
o Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and non-conformities. o Proficient in using measurement and inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges). o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications:
o Certifications in quality control (e.g., CQI, CQT) are desirable.
