Position Summary:
Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, this position is responsible for quality test analysis of in-process and finished products, accurate and timely data keeping and technical lab support for all production activities at the Baxley, GA. site. Due to the 24/7 nature of the manufacturing facility, the position will encompass day or night shift, overtime as required, and provide coverage for other technicians. This is a night shift opportunity. 4 days on, 4 days off.Education/Experience and Skills:
A relevant degree in Chemistry or a related field. Experience in an industrial laboratory environment is preferred. Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills. Ability to work in both a team and an autonomous environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office PC applications.Essential Duties and Responsibilities EHS:
Ensures the business EH&S goals and targets are met and contribute to the EH&S Culture of Lawter. Ensure all work conducted on Company property is performed safely and in compliance with all Company and Statutory requirements.. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for lab operations, and enforce the use of required PPE by others. Maintain exemplary housekeeping standards in the lab environment. Monitor safety, storage, and performance of laboratory supplies and equipment and initiate improvements as required. Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations within the lab work environment. Support Environmental / Safety programs and initiatives as necessary.Product Quality:
Carry out quality testing of in-process and finished products to relevant test methods and standards. Using analytical, historical data and experience, instructs production/process operators on formula corrections and other adjustments to in-process production materials in order to maintain in specification finished goods for customers. Has responsibility for the review and analysis of quality test data and data management. Ensures that lab equipment and facilities are properly maintained. Ensure that the QC paperwork and SAP information is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Maintains updated quality history and batch information files for the plant. Ensures efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability of all lab testing and batch adjustments. Assist with the development of new or modified QC testing procedures, including documentation and training aspects. Demonstrate good teamwork and contribute to the goals of the site and Company. Work on special projects as instructed by supervisor. Uses proper safety practices and advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions or practices. Attends all safety training as required by the company and site.Working Conditions or Restrictions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.Language Skills:
Strong English oral and written communication skills are required. Skill in writing grammatically correct routine business correspondenceMathematical Skills:
The ability to successfully complete moderately complex arithmetic calculations. Knowledge of the metric system units (length, area, volume, capacity, mass and weight) and U.S. equivalents.Reasoning Ability:
Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures. Skill in organizing material, information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort. Ability to analyze information in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies.Other Skills and Abilities:
Strong Sense of Responsibility. Good planning and organization skills. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks. Strong communication and organizational skills; must be able to understand, record and verbalize detailed information, be observant, accurate and able to follow directions. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence utilizing professional business writing skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task, whilst managing your own time and workload, always delivering tasks on time and to deadlines. Ability to implement processes resulting in satisfactory audit practices.Physical Demands:
Standing, sitting, bending, stooping. Lifting up to a maximum of 50 poundsWork Environment:

Lawter is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the base salary pay range is $85,000 to $95,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
