Job Description

Purpose:
A Quality Gage Technician ensures that measurement tools and equipment used in production are accurate, calibrated, and reliable. Their function is to inspect, test, and maintain gages to ensure they meet established standards and specifications. By identifying measurement errors and preventing inaccurate data, the gage technician, help maintain product quality and consistency. This role supports the organizations goals by reducing defects, ensuring compliance, and promoting efficient, high-quality production processes. Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

Compliance to work standards, product check sheets, process check sheets, FMEA check sheets (where applicable), quality alerts, cleaning standards, visual displays, KPC/KCC placards presentations, model specification (where applicable), gage calibration and verificationCalibrate, maintain, and repair all quality gages and measuring equipmentEnsure that gages are functioning properly to ensure accurate readingsPerform routine checks and adjustments based on standards and specificationsDocument all calibration activities and ensure compliance with industry standardsUse various gages and measuring tools to inspect materials, components, and finished productsMeasure dimensions, surface finishes, and other product characteristics to verify conformance to specificationsRecord and analyze data to assess trends and defect issues earlyMaintain detailed records of measurements, calibrations, and inspectionsGenerate reports to provide feedback to the manufacturing or engineering teamsProvide regular reports on the state of gages, calibration schedules, and product quality metricsEnsure that calibration records and quality data are up to date and in compliance with company and regulatory requirementsTrain other employees on the correct use of measurement tools and gagesParticipate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality issuesAdhere to safety protocols when using or maintaining measuring equipment Must be proficient in computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email etc.)Provide daily report of activities
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree in a technical field (e.g., manufacturing, quality, or metrology) is preferred1-3 years of hands-on experience in calibration, quality inspections, or manufacturing environmentBasic understanding of measuring tools, blueprint reading and calibration principlesCertifications (preferred but not always required): Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Quality Technician (CQT) from
ASQKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EmailCombination of technical, analytical, and attention-to detail skillsKnowledge of calibration standards, measurement systems, blueprint reading, and quality systems such as ISO requirementsProficiency in using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs) and understanding of basic statistical concepts
Legal Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

The working condition is a climate-controlled lab (temperature and humidity matter for measurement accuracy)Manufacturing facilities or production floorsOccasionally office settings for documentation and reportingClean and organizedRequire PPE (safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes)
Physical Requirements:
Requires strong attention to detail and patienceOften involves repetitive, careful hand workMay include standing for long periods or moving between workstationsLight to moderate lifting of parts up to 25 lbs. Ability to distinguish color differentiation (for indicators, wires, or digital displays)Sustain concentration while performing precise physical tasks
