A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING TECHNICIAN.
As a member of the geotechnical engineering division, you'll perform a variety of in-office and field tasks. Your main responsibilities are to perform soil, concrete, masonry and weld tests as well as special inspections. You'll also perform laboratory and equipment calibrations while processing laboratory and field data. Your ability to work with limited oversight while maintaining accuracy and producing high quality test reports makes you a great fit for this position!
QUALIFICATIONS
GED or Diploma 3 + years of experience in testing and inspections, including the laboratory and the field. Training available for individuals with less experience. Construction experience and understanding of construction documents and specifications preferred. ACI and ICC certifications preferred. Certification training during winter months. Knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO test methods for materials testing and IBC requirements for special inspections helpful but not required. Valid driver's license and the ability to travel required to sites in Iowa and Nebraska Ability to pass Federal background check Knowledge of Geotechnical Laboratory and Field-Testing equipment Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Physical Requirements Walk, stand, sit, and move over construction project surfaces in a manner that is not injurious to you or persons near you Climb on construction surfaces with proper safety equipment Frequently, safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds in a proper manner to not cause injury
