We are seeking a skilled and dependable Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience equivalent to a third year Apprentice Electrician or a licensed Journeyman who is looking to work in a fast paced, quickly changing environment. The Service Technician will perform work involving construction, maintenance, and/or repair of residential, commercial and light industrial projects. The position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Job Summary:
The Service Technician shall provide leadership and general supervision of work involved in the construction, maintenance, and/or repair of commercial, industrial, or residential electrical construction projects. The Service Technician shall be responsible for the profitable completion of assigned tasks and/or projects by determining and applying proper operational procedures, and through the planning, management, and coordination of labor, material and/or equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Installation Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems to determine methods to install wire and conduit according to NEC and local codes Install and repair wiring, circuit breakers, lighting systems, and other electrical components in commercial and industrial settings Bend, assemble and install conduit and fixtures (e.g., lighting, alarms, signage, etc.) to provide enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities Mount various types of equipment, such as panel boards, transformers, and switchgear Installs, and prepare tray system to secure cables Completes layout and installs underground conduit and rigid conduit Maintenance Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure they function correctly and safely Troubleshooting Diagnose and repair electrical issues using testing devices like voltmeters and ammeters to locate problems and find solutions System Inspection Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers to ensure they meet code and safety standards Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues such as faulty wiring, malfunctioning circuits, and equipment failure Safety Conducts safety meetings and encourages others to work safely Ensures site safety compliance through safe work practices in accordance with OSHA and NEC guidelines Assumes responsibility for understanding and complying with Company attendance policy Responds to emergency during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Other Duties Completes projects/work orders within budget and estimated hours of labor while working with project manager Assists with project job material
- including ordering, receiving material on-site (checking for accuracy and condition of material), processes paperwork promptly, and ensure timely return and check-in of unused materials Completes jobsite housekeeping (including scrap wire) Provides continuous feedback/communication to leadership and team members involved in each project Adheres to the highest standards of ethical business conduct and compliance by acting lawfully, ethically, honestly, and professionally in compliance with Company policy and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required; Minimum of 5,000 OJT hours, has completed some classroom requirements of an approved apprenticeship program. Minimum 3 years of electrical experience. Licenses/Certifications
- Must have valid drivers' license; certification to operate all levels of lifts, OSHA 10 Training
- Strong knowledge of Code Book Technology/Equipment
- Working knowledge and possession of required tools (industry-wide and Shaw required tool list).
