Job Title:
Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician performs hands-on product evaluations on the production floor, supports manufacturing quality initiatives, and ensures products meet defined specifications and standards. This role conducts and documents testing, maintains accurate quality documentation, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, drive continuous improvement, and support both new and legacy products. The position offers strong mentorship, structured training, and clear growth potential, including opportunities to develop into an engineering role. Responsibilities Perform product audits on the production floor to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications. Support specification reviews and clearly communicate quality requirements to production and cross-functional teams. Conduct and document air, water, and structural test procedures in accordance with established methods. Build, install, and refine test fixtures and prototypes to support product and process evaluations. Use measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers to verify part dimensions and tolerances. Partner closely with Quality Engineers, Operations, and product development teams to identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues. Participate in root cause investigations and contribute to the development and implementation of corrective actions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, including test records and standard work instructions. Assist with the calibration, care, and proper use of quality and test equipment. Attend daily shift debriefs to share findings, raise concerns, and support continuous improvement activities. Support operators on the production floor by diagnosing issues, answering quality-related questions, and reinforcing standards. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, documentation accuracy, and manufacturing processes. Essential Skills Strong computer skills for documentation, data entry, and basic analysis. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams. High attention to detail with excellent follow-through on tasks and action items. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with tight timelines and high expectations. Familiarity with basic measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers, or willingness to learn. Interest in long-term growth within Quality and a hands-on, problem-solving mindset. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical degree or related technical education preferred. Comfortable working on the production floor in a structured, physical environment. Openness to training on specific tools, equipment, and testing methods used in the facility. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across manufacturing, quality, design, and IT functions. Motivation to grow into more advanced quality or engineering roles over time. Work Environment This role is based primarily on the production floor in a fast-paced, highly collaborative manufacturing environment. The Quality Technician spends most of the day hands-on, diagnosing issues, supporting operators, running tests, and ensuring quality standards are met. The setting is busy, physical, and structured, with tight timelines and high expectations, but also offers solid training, strong mentorship, and significant growth potential. The position follows a 4x10 schedule, working four 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. Roles are available on first and second shift: first shift typically starts between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., and second shift typically starts between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The work involves regular use of measurement tools and test equipment, with training provided on specialized tools and procedures. The culture emphasizes hands-on problem solving, continuous improvement, and collaboration across manufacturing, quality, design, and IT functions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Dubuque, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
