Job Description

St. Charles Trading is a food ingredient distributor specializing in global supply chain solutions. For additional information about us, please visit www.stcharlestrading.com . We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Quality Control Technician - Document Compliance to join our food manufacturing team. This role focuses on ensuring that all quality documentation complies with internal standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., SQF, FDA, USDA, FSMA), and industry best practices. The technician will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of records related to food safety, quality systems, and production processes.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00
PM Duties/Responsibilities:
Document Control:
Review, update, and maintain quality documentation, including SOPs, batch records, production logs, inspection forms, HACCP plans, and other regulatory records. Ensure all documents are accurate, current, and compliant with applicable food safety regulations and internal policies. Manage document revision control, version tracking, and archival processes.
Compliance Monitoring:
Verify that production and quality documentation meets regulatory and certification standards (e.g., SQF, BRC, GFSI). Conduct internal audits to assess document accuracy and completeness. Support preparation for external audits and regulatory inspections by organizing and presenting required documentation. Work with the Tracegains platform to maintain, update, and provide documentation both internally and to customers.
Quality Support:
Collaborate with QA/QC, production, and sanitation teams to identify documentation gaps or inconsistencies. Field and complete customer specific requests and inquiries, ensuring a satisfactory response. Assist in investigating non-conformances and deviations, including documentation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Support training programs by ensuring relevant documentation is properly controlled and distributed. Help create internal certificates of analysis based on third party data results. Monitor all incoming certificates of analysis ensuring they are properly filed and sent out accurately to our customers. Work with documentation portals to improve our presence and compliance within these platforms.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to document control and quality systems. Propose updates to document control procedures to enhance compliance and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a quality control or documentation role, preferably in the food or beverage industry. Familiarity with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc.).
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of document control processes and regulatory compliance. High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions:
Primarily office-based with occasional time in production or warehouse areas. May require standing or walking in production environments. Must comply with food safety and hygiene requirements, including use of PPE. Occasional material handling and lifting of up to 50 pounds At St.
