Job Description

Overview Blachford is a chemical manufacturing company, in operation since 1921. We produce lubricants for various industries, including the production of ferrous and non-ferrous wire, metalworking products such as metal cleaners and corrosion inhibitors, machining lubricants, CNC coolants, and grinding fluids. Blachford remains a leader in our industry because we are constantly innovating to produce new and higher quality products for our customers. Our manufacturing processes are designed to be flexible and versatile, with short lead times in mind. We are committed to providing responsive, reliable service to our customers and maintaining strong collaboration across our internal teams. To support our team and operational excellence, we are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our afternoon shift team as a Quality Control Laboratory Technician. The position is responsible for performing laboratory testing, supporting product quality, and ensuring compliance with company and ISO standards. This role maintains accurate documentation, supports batch approvals, and assists in investigating nonconformances. The position also contributes to laboratory safety, equipment calibration, and continuous improvement initiatives, while collaborating cross-functionally to support operational and customer quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures Review and approve batches to ensure compliance with product specifications Maintain accurate records and support quality documentation requirements Identify, escalate, and assist in investigating nonconformances Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and standardized solutions Support ISO standards, audits, and quality system requirements Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment Qualifications & Experience Chemical Technologist Diploma (2-year program) Minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with wet chemical analysis methods Familiarity with analytical instrumentation (e.g., Karl Fischer titration, rheological testing) Working knowledge of
ISO 9001
quality standards Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems Experience using standard laboratory equipment (e.g., ovens, viscometers, hot plates) Skills & Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Please include a copy of your resume and a brief cover letter in your application. $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
