Job Description

Job Description As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality within our production environment. You will conduct daily calibrations of scales, thermometers, and other quality-related equipment, document calibration results, and address any discrepancies immediately. Your role will include documenting product holds, deviations, and quality issues, and escalating critical concerns for immediate resolution. You will also perform environmental monitoring activities and conduct ATP verifications and allergen testing as required. Additionally, you will troubleshoot issues during testing, monitor production lines for quality standards, and verify QA documentation accuracy. You will also conduct training for QA staff and provide coaching to enhance team performance. Responsibilities Perform daily calibrations of scales, thermometers, and quality-related equipment. Record calibration results and address discrepancies or malfunctions immediately. Document and report product holds, deviations, and quality issues encountered during shifts. Escalate critical concerns such as CCP violations for immediate resolution. Maintain detailed and accurate records for traceability and follow-up. Perform or assist in environmental monitoring activities, including swabbing. Conduct ATP verifications and allergen testing, ensuring proper documentation. Troubleshoot and address issues identified during testing. Monitor the production line to ensure quality standards are met. Verify that all QA documentation is completed accurately and on time. File and organize completed paperwork for compliance and auditing. Conduct training and retraining of QA floor staff. Identify skill gaps and provide coaching to enhance team performance. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably bakery or pizza production. Minimum of 1 year in a leadership role. Experience in quality assurance, HACCP, PCQI, chemistry, and quality control. In-depth knowledge of FDA, USDA, and other relevant food safety regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associates degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field. PCQI and/or HACCP certification preferred. Bakery experience is preferred. Ability to make firm decisions and handle situations requiring action, such as inspections. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kankakee, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
