$25-$32+ (More for GD&T experience) Job Description The Quality Inspector performs detailed inspections of precision components using advanced metrology tools and techniques to ensure products meet all specifications and quality standards. This role operates with a high degree of independence, applying GD&T principles, using CMM and video measurement equipment, and accurately documenting results to support a robust quality management process. Responsibilities Perform detailed inspections using precision measurement equipment and devices to verify product conformity to drawings and specifications. Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles to complete inspection activities accurately and consistently. Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, gauge pins, gauge blocks, and other inspection tools to measure parts and assemblies. Run product on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), interpret measurement results, and determine whether products meet all requirements. Write and modify CMM programs based on parts and specification drawings to support efficient and repeatable inspection processes. Write programs for video measurement equipment based on parts and specification drawings to automate and standardize measurement routines. Summarize quality control data, prepare clear reports, and communicate results to leadership and other stakeholders. Document nonconforming products in accordance with company directives and support follow-up actions as needed. Perform AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs) and complete all related documentation accurately and on time. Use basic statistical techniques to evaluate measurement data, identify trends, and support continuous improvement efforts. Apply a basic understanding of machining processes to communicate inspection findings effectively to production personnel. Work independently with minimal or no supervisory input while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail. Drive and promote safety practices within the organization during all inspection activities. Perform all other duties as assigned to support the quality function and overall production goals. Essential Skills Strong working knowledge of metrology and measurement techniques. Strong working knowledge of calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, gauge pins, gauge blocks, and related inspection equipment. Ability to perform inspections using precision measurement equipment and devices with a high level of accuracy. Experience applying GD&T to complete inspection activities. Ability to run product on CMMs, interpret results, and determine product conformity. Ability to summarize quality control data and report results clearly. Ability to document nonconforming product in accordance with internal procedures. Ability to use basic statistical techniques to evaluate measurement data and identify trends. Basic understanding of machining processes to support effective communication with the production floor. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and productivity. Proficiency with micrometers, gauges, and calipers. High school diploma. Some technical-related training. Status as a US person, as required for this role. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Experience with Zeiss CMM equipment and Zeiss Calypso software. Prior experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing or machining environment. Familiarity with video measurement equipment and programming measurement routines. Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections and completing associated documentation. Exposure to Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies. Ability to drive and support safety practices in a production or inspection environment. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to measurement and documentation. Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with production teams. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing and inspection environment that uses advanced metrology tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, gauge pins, gauge blocks, CMMs (such as Zeiss systems), and video measurement equipment. The position follows weekday shifts with a choice of first shift (Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) or a flexible second shift (Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.). Work is hands-on and detail-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety practices, accurate documentation, and close collaboration with the production floor in a professional industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Libertyville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
