Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Quality Inspector I is responsible for inspecting molded plastic parts and products to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications. The Quality Inspector I plays a critical part in the quality assurance process by identifying defects, documenting findings, and working with production teams to maintain consistent product quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ø Inspect plastic molded parts for visual and dimensional accuracy using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.). Ø Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections based on control plans or sampling procedures. Ø Document inspection results, maintain quality records, and report non-conformances. Ø Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and quality specifications. Ø Promptly communicate quality issues with operators and supervisors and work closely with operators, process technicians, and supervisors to resolve quality issues. Ø Conduct rounds in the production/assembly area on a regular basis (specifically 3 per shift or 1 every 2 hours). Ø Ensure compliance with company quality systems. Ø Use statistical process control (SPC) techniques when required Ø Support internal audits and participate in continuous improvement initiatives Ø Ensure that defective parts are properly identified, quarantined, and documented Ø Maintain cleanliness and organization of the inspection area. Ø Maintain regular and timely attendance in accordance with company policies. Ø Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Ø High School Diploma/GED and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ø 1+ year of experience in injection molding or similar manufacturing environment (preferred).
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Ø Familiarity with inspection tools and methods (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.). Ø Basic knowledge of injection molding processes and common defects (flash, sink marks, short shots, etc.). Ø Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Ø Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills. Ø Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ø Basic computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Word, ERP or QMS software). Ø Good communication skills and a proactive approach to quality issues.
Pay:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
