The Quality Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the Food Safety and Quality Assurance program at United Petfood by managing internal audits, assisting with finished product reviews, and raw material sampling. The Quality Coordinator supports compliance with food safety standards and contributes to the overall quality and safety of pet food products.Key Responsibilities:
Internal Audits:
Assistin the development,implementationand management ofthe internal FSQA audit program across manufacturing, warehousing, and support functions. Establish annual audit schedules based on risk, certification requirements, and business priorities. Ensure audits align with applicable standards (e.g.BRCGS, HACCP, GMPs, FDA/USDA).
Finished Product Reviews:
Investigateand conduct thoroughinvestigateroot cause analyses for reported quality issues,identifyingunderlying causes of non-conformances. Develop, write, and review Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to address quality issues and prevent recurrence. Monitor CAPA implementation and effectiveness, ensuring documentation aligns with regulatory and company standards.Supply Chain Quality Management:
Collaborate with suppliers via platforms likeTraceGainsto address quality issues related to raw materials and ingredients. Provide quality feedback to suppliers, ensuring alignment with United Petfood's specifications and standards. Monitor supplier performance andmaintainrecords of supplier-related quality data for trend analysis.Quality System Support:
Assistin preparing for andparticipatingin internal and external audits, including GFSI-recognized schemes (e.g., SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000). Support the development and delivery of quality and food safety training programs for plant staff. Monitor compliance with food safety and quality standards, including FDA and USDA requirements, through regular data review and inspections.Database and Records Management:
Maintainaccuraterecords of quality complaints, CAPAs, and supplier communications in electronic databases and Microsoft Office applications. Ensure all quality-related documentation is archived in compliance with companyrecordsretention policies.Continuous Improvement and Compliance Monitoring:
Identifyopportunities for process improvements within the FSQA program based on complaint trends, root cause findings, and supplier performance data. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Production, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs) to implement quality enhancements.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Biology, ora relatedfield. 2+ years of experience in quality assurance or coordination within the food, pet food, or related industries. Strongproficiencyin Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with proprietary quality portals (e.g.,TraceGains). Excellent analytical skills with experience in data analysis, KPI tracking, and report generation. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with customers and suppliers. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with GFSI-recognized certification schemes (e.g., SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000). Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram). Knowledge of pet food regulations and standards, including FDA and USDA requirements.
