Job Description

Overview Empire Staffing is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. Your expertise will support the company's commitment to delivering reliable, safe, and high-quality products to our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of quality systems, inspection techniques, and regulatory requirements, contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence. Shift will be from 8AM-4:30PM/5PM Responsibilities Perform routine quality checks on incoming raw materials and in-process pet food products Monitor grinding, blending, and packaging operations to ensure they meet specifications Collect, label, and test samples from production runs for moisture, protein, temperature, and other key parameters Document inspection results and maintain accurate QA records in accordance with internal and regulatory standards Report any deviations, contamination, or non-conforming products to the QA Manager immediately Ensure that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation, and safety protocols are followed at all times Conduct and document facility inspections, including pre-op and in-process checks Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality-related issues Collaborate with Production and Maintenance to ensure continuous quality and food safety compliance Operate and calibrate lab testing equipment (e.g., NIR machine, thermometers, moisture analyzers) Support traceability and product hold/release programs Ensure clean, organized, and food-safe QA workspaces Other QA duties as assigned by management Experience Prior QA or food safety experience in seafood, meat, or petfood processing preferred Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, FDA/FSMA, and basic food safety regulations Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to work in a cool/wet production environment Comfortable working around raw animal materials Basic computer/data entry skills (Excel, email, etc.) Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with cross-functional teams Bilingual skills (Spanish/Portuguese/Cape Verdean Creole) a plus Must be able to stand for extended periods Lift up to 50 lbs. Work in cold, wet, and fast-paced production environments Use of PPE (gloves, hairnet, smock, boots, etc.) required
