Job Description

High Tech Turning is a CNC Machine Shop focused on high volume, high precision CNC machined components for the medical device sector. We have been in business since 1985. We made over 9,000,000 CNC-machined parts in 2022. Everything is custom and produced to customers' drawings. Most jobs run continuously for many days or weeks at a time. The parts are typically smaller than a tennis ball. Some parts are smaller than a grain of rice. We tend to do tricky and complicated jobs with tolerances in the +/-.001" range and tighter. It's common for us to produce tens of thousands of or even hundreds of thousands of pieces on an order. The inspection team is an integral part of the shop flow. Parts inspection includes first article, daily AQL in-process inspections, and final inspections. The work is very hands on, repetitive by nature of being high volume and requires somebody with a keen eye. Parts are inspected by a variety of means including pin and thread gages, micrometer, drop indicator, comparator, CMM and vision system.
In this role you will:
Measure parts against drawings with appropriate tools Perform "First Piece" inspections and record results Perform Daily AQL inspections on a variety of parts and record results Perform Final inspections and record results Communicate with the Quality Manager regarding discrepancies Communicate with operators regarding discrepancies Screen parts as required. Inspect parts under magnification Keep accurate manual and computer records as required Ensure all tools are properly maintained and calibrated Job Requirements 1-5 years' experience in an inspection role in a manufacturing environment (compensation commensurate with experience) Read technical drawings and understand geometric tolerancing Expertly use various hand tools to measure parts (micrometer, drop indicator, etc.) Understand how to set up high precision repeatable measurements Operate measuring microscope and optical comparator Operate CMM and vision measurement system (on-the-job training available) Attention to detail is a must Compensation includes wages plus excellent benefits including a bonus program, well-funded health plan, dental, profit-sharing plan, and more.
