Full Job Description Job Title:
Field Inspector Location:
One-hour radius of your home.
Company:
Collateral Specialists Inc. (CSI)
Position Type:
Hourly, part-time position. You are able to schedule your own workdays.
About Us:
Collateral Specialists Inc. (CSI) is a trusted third-party inspection provider serving the financial industry. For over 30 years, we have delivered expert field inspection services across all 50 states. Our work supports financial institutions in tracking, verifying, and auditing collateral across a wide range of industries, including dealership floor plan financing, SBA lending, equipment leasing, and more.
Position Overview:
CSI is seeking detail-oriented, self-motivated Field Inspectors to conduct on-site inspections and audits within one hour radius from your home. In this role, you will verify inventory or property details, take photographs, complete inspection reports, and communicate findings directly with CSI's home office. This is a flexible, part-time, hourly position where you can schedule your own workdays based on assigned inspections and availability. Floor Plan Inspections - CSI's floor plan inspections provide lenders with a scheduled, on-site verification of financed inventory. Field representatives visit automotive, truck, and construction equipment dealerships on a recurring basis to verify inventory by serial number, model, and status. Any units not located must be reconciled to determine their status (e.g., in stock, demo, rental, not received, or sold). In some cases, vehicles or equipment may be located off-site at storage facilities or repair shops, requiring travel to additional locations for verification and photography. Equipment Inspections - Typically conducted in connection with equipment leasing, CSI equipment inspections verify that financed assets are present at the end user's business location. This includes confirming serial numbers, capturing photos, and completing a concise inspection report. Site Inspections -CSI site inspections provide a physical review of a borrower's business location. Each inspection includes photographs and a detailed report outlining property condition, business activity, and surrounding market environment. Depending on client requirements, inspections may include interior walkthroughs or exterior-only observations. Many assignments include specific client instructions, requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written guidelines accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct floor plan inspections at automotive, truck, and construction equipment dealerships. Verify the existence of equipment and collateral, cross-check serial numbers and model details, and assess inventory accuracy. Perform site inspections to assess the physical condition of businesses, including exterior and interior checks as requested. Take digital photos and upload them into CSI. Communicate effectively with CSI's team by providing timely updates and clear documentation. Travel to inspection sites and complete inspections according to customer specifications. What We're Looking For Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally to inspection sites, typically within a one-hour radius. Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow written instructions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated individual who can work independently and manage time effectively. Proficiency with mobile devices (smartphones/tablets) and web-based reporting systems, including mobile applications. Flexible schedule with availability during weekdays (prior to 4:00 PM). Ability to complete and submit inspection reports within required timeframes (typically 48 hours to 30 days, depending on inspection type). Physically able to access inspection areas as needed, including climbing into truck cabs, walking through business premises, and navigating various worksite environments. Preferred Experience Background in auditing, automotive, or the financial services industry. Prior experience in inspections, fieldwork, or similar on-site roles is a plus. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay based on experience and inspection volume, plus mileage reimbursement. Flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability. Full support from CSI's experienced operations team. Who Should Apply We are seeking candidates with strong relevant field experience. Previous dealership experience is highly preferred. Candidates with backgrounds in vehicle inspections, floor plan audits, and equipment finance audits are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional relevant experience may include notary services, real estate, insurance and claims adjusting, SBA inspections, mortgage inspections, or other lending industry-related roles. How to
